DataPoint: New 2021 Nursing Home Salary Report
Based on data collected and analyzed by LeadingAge NY, the median hourly wage for Nurse Managers/Head Nurses (RNs) was $39.25 statewide in 2021, up from $36.30 in 2019. The RN median hourly wage with benefits was $53.02 in 2021 and $48.23 in 2019. The 2021 LeadingAge NY Salary Report is a compilation of data collected during the 2021 LeadingAge NY Nursing Home Salary Survey, which is collected biannually. Not-for-profit and public nursing home survey participants reported wage and salary data as of January 2021. Statewide, the hourly wage for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) in the 75th percentile (wages higher than three quarters of the sample) was $26.76 in 2021, up from $26.16 in 2019.
In addition to requesting salary and wage data, LeadingAge NY asked survey participants to report vacancies for non-management positions as of January 2021. Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) and LPN vacancies occurred in 73.3 and 67.8 percent of surveyed homes, respectively. The median number of CNA vacancies was 11.
