DataPoint: Medicare Advantage Penetration

Western New York has the highest percent of Medicare beneficiaries enrolled in managed care. Of the eleven counties with Medicare Advantage penetration rates above 50 percent, all but one are located in the Rochester and Buffalo areas. Rates in counties in the Fully Integrated Dual Advantage (FIDA) demonstration area vary from 52.6 percent in the Bronx to 20.9 percent in Suffolk County. The Hudson Valley region has some of the lowest penetration rates with Dutchess, Rockland, Putnam, Orange and Sullivan counties all reporting rates below 20 percent.
