DataPoint: Diagnoses of Adult Day Services Recipients

Nationwide, nearly one third of adult day services center participants were diagnosed with Alzheimer's or other dementia.  The same proportion had diabetes.  One in four had depression and one in four had an intellectual or developmental disability.  The most common diagnosis was cardiovascular disease which affected 44 percent of participants.  Ten percent had severe mental illness.

These figures come from the 2014 National Study of Long Term Care Providers which collected the data through questionnaires of Adult Day Service Center administrators.  Graphic results are available here.
