DataPoint: ACF Salaries

In 2017, the median total staffing cost per resident day in adult care facilities (ACFs) was $52.55 statewide and $66.78 among non-profit facilities, based on ACF Cost Report data analyzed by LeadingAge NY. Statewide, staffing costs per resident day increased by nearly 6 percent from 2016. In the Central New York region, reported total staffing costs were $57.46 per resident day, representing the highest statewide regional figure. In contrast, the lowest total staffing costs occurred in the Western New York region ($50.50). Per resident day salary expenses for aides and attendants varied significantly based on region, with the lowest cost per resident day in the Metropolitan New York City region ($8.83), which was about one-third the cost in the Capital Region ($22.60), the region reporting the highest cost. The median salary expense for non-profit aides and attendants was $30.34, which was nearly 50 percent higher than the statewide median.

Note that the figures are based on all salary expenses regardless of population served.
