CDC Recommends Second Dose of COVID-19 Vaccine for Vulnerable Populations

(Oct. 29, 2024) On Oct. 23, 2024, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released a statement about COVID-19 vaccine recommendations. The CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommends that people 65 years and older and those who are moderately or severely immunocompromised should receive a second dose of the 2024-2025 COVID-19 vaccine six months after their first dose. Since there is an increased risk of severe symptoms for older adults, this new recommendation aims to protect them against current COVID-19 variants and emphasizes the importance of staying up to date on vaccinations.
