New York State Launches Hotline for Affordable COVID-19 Treatment
Governor Hochul has announced the launch of a new hotline service for those who test positive for COVID-19 but do not have a health care provider. New York State residents, regardless of income or health insurance coverage, can connect with a qualified medical provider by calling 888-TREAT-NY (212-COVID-19 in New York City) or by completing an online form.
Evaluation through the program will include a telemedicine visit with a qualified medical provider who can identify the appropriate COVID-19 treatment plan, which may include a prescription for Paxlovid or Molnupiravir. These oral antivirals have been proven to decrease hospitalizations for those at risk of severe disease and can help fight infection and shorten recovery time when given soon after a positive diagnosis.
Insured patients will pay a co-pay amount based on their plan to use the new hotline; for those without health care coverage, the New York State Department of Health (DOH) will cover the cost of service.
