Further Information Regarding HERO Act Workplace Safety Committee Proposed Regulations

As was previously reported, the New York State Department of Labor (DOL) issued a notice of proposed rulemaking relative to the Workplace Safety Committee required under the HERO Act on Dec. 22, 2021. The proposed regulations address the establishment and composition of the Committee as well as permissible actions by the Committee, such as rules and procedures, training, and meetings. The regulations also include employer obligations and define critical terms. There is a public hearing scheduled for Feb. 9, 2022, and public comments are allowed until five days after the last scheduled hearing.
