DOH COVID-19 Guidance for Transportation Managers and Brokers
The State issued transportation guidance for Medicaid transportation brokers and vendors providing non-emergent transportation back in June 2021 and revised it in September 2021 to provide guidance on COVID-19 practices for transporting Medicaid beneficiaries. Click here to review the revised guidance.
The revised guidance states that individuals may ride without social distancing as long as they are masked. If an individual cannot medically tolerate a mask, then that individual must be socially distanced from others or ride alone. Drivers who are unable to tolerate being masked should not drive a vehicle. Also, vehicles should be cleaned and wiped down in between transports.
The guidance applies to individuals who are transported in the community, including adult day health care (ADHC) registrants and social day participants, and other adults who live at home. It may also serve as a guide for facilities with their own fleets or those serving as Medicaid transportation providers bringing long term care residents to appointments in the community.
