LeadingAge National sent a letter to DHS Secretary Kristi Noem urging immediate action to address the impact of recent immigration policy changes on the long-term care workforce.

Congress is moving through the budget reconciliation process, which aims to reduce federal spending by approximately $1.5 trillion over the next 10 years. Given the significant amount of savings being sought, Medicaid is a highly likely source of cuts (potentially up to $880 billion). Write to your members of Congress today to urge them not to include Medicaid cuts or harmful changes as part of budget reconciliation bills or other legislation.

The reconciliation bill passed by the U.S. House Financial Services Committee would rescind all unobligated GRRP funds, presumably those that would otherwise be used by HUD for energy benchmarking and the hiring of needed staff to help administer the largest of the GRRP awards.

The White House delivered a “skinny” budget request to Congress to describe how the Trump administration would like Congress to fund programs in FY 2026, including a 42 percent cut to HUD’s rental assistance programs.

Combined occupancy rose across all settings including stand-alone IL, AL, memory care, and CCRCs in the first quarter of 2025.
