Two Upcoming Events of Possible Interest to SNF Providers
Two federal agencies have scheduled events that may be of interest to nursing home members. At 2 p.m. on Thurs., Sept. 8th, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) will host a virtual discussion with advocates, service providers, community leaders, and members of the public to explore challenges around nursing home debt collection practices. The event will feature a panel discussion with representatives of consumer advocacy organizations and others, including LeadingAge, followed by public comment. The goal is for the CFPB to learn about consumer experiences with nursing home debt and debt collection practices and to understand the impact they can have on the financial wellbeing of caregivers, their families, and friends. The hearing will be streamed live here.
At 2 p.m. on Wed., Sept. 28th, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will provide an overview of the Value-Based Purchasing (VBP) provisions in the 2023 Skilled Nursing Facility Prospective Payment System (SNF PPS) Final Rule. Nursing home members may recall that the Rule expands the VBP program from one measure to four over the course of the next several years and updates how payment adjustments will be calculated. Registration for the webinar is available here. Those unable to participate live will be able to access the recording on the Archived Events page here.
