Survey News

CMS has standardized the minimum number of medication pass observations required during survey. Whether completing a traditional or QIS survey, surveyors will observe a minimum of 25 medication administration opportunities. The requirement to extend the review for another 20-25 opportunities if errors are identified during the first medication pass observation, has been eliminated.

However, the surveyor may observe additional medication passes in order to observe different routes, times or staff, if needed. More information may be found here.
