DOH Posts Final NHQI Score Sheets

(Jan. 7, 2025) The Department of Health (DOH) has finalized 2023 Nursing Home Quality Initiative (NHQI) scores and notes in a Dear Administrator Letter (DAL) dated Jan. 2nd that the final score sheets have been posted to the Health Commerce System (HCS). The associated DAL is available here. While the timing is not yet known, the final scores will be the basis of payment adjustments in a forthcoming Medicaid payment cycle. Homes with an overall score in the fourth or fifth quintiles can expect to see a negative adjustment approximating 0.8 percent of their annual Medicaid revenue. Based on prior year distributions, those in the first quintile will receive a payment approximating 1.2 percent of annual revenue. Those in the second quintile should expect a positive adjustment of about 0.8 percent of annual Medicaid revenue, while those in the third quintile will see a slight positive bump. Final quintile assignments will be posted to the main DOH website, while detailed scores for each measure will be made available on Health Data NY in the coming weeks. We will let members know when payment adjustments are sent to eMedNY.
