CMS Releases Final MDS 3.0 RAI User's Manual Version 1.19.1

(Aug. 6, 2024) The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has released the final Minimum Data Set (MDS) 3.0 Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) User’s Manual Version 1.19.1 that will be effective beginning Oct. 1, 2024. The manual and corresponding change tables can be downloaded here. Guidance is provided for two new items: N0415K: Anticonvulsant and O0350: Resident’s COVID-19 vaccination is up to date. Discharge goals in section GG have been removed, and the guidance and examples in section GG have been revised. There is expanded guidance for Manual Assessment Correction/Deletion Requests and various other minor changes. Details of the changes are described in detail in the corresponding change tables.
