CMS Releases Final MDS 3.0 Item Sets Version 1.19.1

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has posted the Minimum Data Set (MDS) 3.0 Item Sets Version 1.19.1, which take effect Oct. 1, 2024, on the MDS 3.0 Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) Manual webpage. Scroll down to the Downloads section and select the ZIP file named MDS3.0_Final_Item_Sets_v1.19.1_for_Oct_1_2024 (ZIP). This file includes a five-page item set change history document that describes all of the changes. One of the changes is a new item for coding a resident’s COVID-19 vaccination status. This item will be used to calculate the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Quality Reporting Program (QRP) measure COVID-19 Vaccine: Patients/Residents Who Are Up To Date for fiscal year (FY) 2026.
