CMS Releases BIMS Assessment Tutorial

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has released a helpful video tutorial on completing the Brief Interview for Mental Status (BIMS) assessment. The 20-minute video is designed to assist providers in accurate coding using live-action patient/resident scenarios. It enables viewers to learn how to conduct this cognitive assessment and includes interview strategies across multiple long term care settings, using targeted guidance for accurate coding with multiple scenarios as examples.
