Changes to the Admission Requirements for Nursing Homes

ABSTRACT:  DOH issues guidance on completion of new SCREEN

In April 2009, DOH proposed changes to the SCREEN process.  All residents admitted to nursing homes require the completion of a SCREEN and those individuals identified with mental illness, or mental retardation/developmental disabilities require an additional review to determine the appropriateness of their admission.  Changes to the SCREEN and who may complete the form are anticipated to become effective in early November.  Instructions for completing the SCREEN and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about the new process are attached below.
