Center for Health Workforce Studies Surveying Providers

The Center for Health Workforce Studies (CHWS) at the School of Public Health, University at Albany, monitors annual health care employment trends in New York State and annually issues a report of its findings. CHWS is currently surveying nursing homes and home health agencies to obtain more timely information on health workforce employment. The primary purpose of the surveys, which were mailed to nursing homes and home health agencies on Sept. 23rd, is to better understand the current recruitment and retention problems faced by these providers.

CHWS estimates that the one-page survey mailed to each provider type should take about 5-10 minutes to complete. LeadingAge NY reviewed both the nursing home and home health agency surveys and offered input to CHWS to ensure that the questions asked in this survey reflect issues currently relevant to member facilities and agencies.

Responses are due by Oct. 28, 2016 and may be returned by ground mail or fax per the instructions. A final report based on the results will be released at the end of this year and will be available on the Center’s website. The most recent CHWS report, The Health Care Workforce in New York, 2014: Trends in the Supply and Demand for Health Workers, is posted at http://www.chwsny.org.

Members with any questions on the survey should contact Robert Martiniano at 518-474-2744 or rmartiniano@albany.edu. LeadingAge NY encourages its members to participate in this effort.
