Care Compare for Nursing Homes Has Not Been Refreshed for January 2025
(Feb. 3, 2025) The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) did not refresh Care Compare as scheduled for nursing homes on Jan. 29, 2025. A pause in external communications from federal health agencies initiated by the Trump administration on Jan. 21st likely affected the quarterly refresh scheduled for the last Wednesday of January. After taking questions, CMS was unable to provide information, and it is unclear at this time when the website will be next updated. LeadingAge NY is monitoring this situation and will update the Five-Star Reports when information is available. There are several options that CMS could use to refresh Care Compare. These options include performing an off-cycle quarterly refresh, either at the time the pause is lifted or during a monthly update, or waiting until the next scheduled quarterly refresh on April 30th.
