Antimicrobial Stewardship Resources

Both the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Department of Health (DOH) are focusing on the overuse of antibiotics in long term care facilities. The American Hospital Association's (AHA) Physician Leadership Forum has made available some helpful resources related to antimicrobial stewardship. Among the topics addressed by the Physician Leadership Forum are CDC core elements, guidelines for developing an institutional program, policies on antimicrobial stewardship, and the pharmacist's role in antimicrobial prevention and infection control.

Also included are a number of implementation guides and tools, as well as helpful resources and articles.
