CMS Updates PDPM Resources

Providers seeking to better understand and prepare for the Patient-Driven Payment Model (PDPM), the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Medicare Part A payment methodology that will replace RUG-IV in October 2019, now have an additional resource. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has updated and expanded a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document that addresses many of the key features and considerations with which members should become familiar. Along with the FAQs, CMS also made some updates to their 90-page slide deck that outlines the methodology as well as the step-by-step walk-through document showing how resident characteristics reported on the MDS will be used to categorize a resident into payment categories.
