CMS Posts PDPM Overview

Members who missed the Medicare Learning Network presentation on the upcoming changes to nursing home Medicare reimbursement may now access an audio recording as well as the full transcript of the December call. The slides are available here. During the call, staff from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) provided a comprehensive walkthrough of the new Medicare Part A skilled nursing facility (SNF) payment system, the Patient-Driven Payment Model (PDPM), being implemented on Oct. 1, 2019. Presenters provided an overview of patient characteristics driving the payment system and highlighted important distinctions between the current system (RUG-IV) and PDPM.
