Medicare Open Enrollment Starts

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has designated Oct. 15 through Dec. 7 as the open enrollment period for coverages starting in 2015.   This open enrollment period includes Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage.  For general information on signing up, Medicare beneficiaries can refer to the Medicare.gov website.  From the Medicare.gov site you can link to the Part D enrollment center.  In addition, CMS has a special open enrollment feature on their website and individuals may also contact CMS directly at 1-800-MEDICARE.  Some good resources providers can use to assist beneficiaries in navigating the Medicare enrollment process include Prescription Drug Coverage - General Information and A Guide to Consumer Mailings from CMS and Social Security.
