Advancing Excellence Campaign
ABSTRACT: Changes to program goals to take place in October.
The Advancing Excellence Campaign is a national effort of twenty-eight stakeholder groups including AAHSA, AHCA, AMDA, CMS, NADONNA, NCCNHR and the Pioneer Network designed to help nursing homes improve quality of care and quality of life. The campaign provides free, evidenced-based technical assistance in eight areas of nursing home care. As a result of its success, the initial two- year effort, started in 2006, was extended. A second phase of the Campaign begins in October 2009. The new goals include decreasing staff turnover, the use of consistent assignment, decreased restraint use, decreased number of pressure ulcers, increased advance care planning with residents, and measurement of resident and staff satisfaction. Additional information on the national campaign can be found at www.nhqualitycampaign.org and on the efforts within New York at www.empirequality.org/. Information on the new goals is attached.
