Bi-Partisan Letter Sent to CMS on Medicare Advantage Payments and Dual Eligibles
Thirty-four members of Congress recently sent a bi-partisan letter to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) expressing concern that the Medicare Advantage risk adjustment model, rating method and quality payment system do not properly consider the socioeconomic status and needs of the dual-eligible population. The letter maintains that the payment system for Medicare Advantage plans does not recognize the "high-cost interventions and care management" needed to provide high quality care targeted at the unique needs of dual-eligible beneficiaries.
