DOH Schedules First Independent Assessor Training Session
As the State moves forward with implementing the Independent Assessment (IA) process for Managed Long Term Care (MLTC) plan members in need of personal care or consumer directed personal assistance, the Department of Health (DOH) has announced the first of a series of operational trainings. The webinar for MLTC frontline staff will be held on Fri., Jan. 14th from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and will focus on the initial assessment process.
Registration is required and available here.
The event will be recorded, and the recording and slide presentation will be posted to the Department’s IA website. Questions can be submitted to independent.assessor@health.ny.gov.
LeadingAge NY and its member plans have been concerned about the negative impact on health plan members’ access to services since this provision was first unveiled through the Medicaid Redesign Team (MRT) II process and enacted as a potential Medicaid savings provision. Persistent backlogs on the part of the State’s enrollment broker that result in lengthy delays in connecting individuals in need of services to those services have only reinforced these concerns.
