DOH Convenes Managed Care Plan Meeting on Community First Choice Option
The Department of Health (DOH) met with mainstream and managed long term care (MLTC) plans, PACE programs, and their association representatives last week to discuss Community First Choice Option (CFCO) implementation. Through CFCO, states receive enhanced federal Medicaid matching dollars in exchange for making available an expanded array of home and community based services to Medicaid beneficiaries. CFCO services in New York will be delivered primarily through managed care plans and will be incorporated into the MLTC benefit package beginning in July 2017.
The DOH meeting focused on identifying and discussing unresolved implementation issues. The participants agreed to create four managed care plan work groups to develop strategies to address open issues and a steering committee to coordinate work group activities. The work groups are: Provider Relations, Benefit Management, Clinical Management, and PACE.
