Rural Development Updates HOTMA Compliance Date to Align with HUD

(Oct. 7, 2024) On Oct. 3^rd, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Housing Service (USDA RHS) announced a change in the implementation date of the Housing Opportunity Through Modernization Act (HOTMA) for rural Multifamily Housing (MFH) communities. To align with the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), RHS MFH is extending full implementation of applicable HOTMA regulations until Jul.1, 2025. All MFH tenant certifications effective on or after Jul.1, 2025, must comply with HOTMA requirements.
