Reminder: Providers Can Still Apply for the Affordable Housing Connectivity Program
(Dec. 17, 2024) As NYS continues its investments in expanding broadband access across the state, affordable housing property owners are reminded that they can still express their interest in participating in the $100 million Affordable Housing Connectivity Program (AHCP) by completing the Building Conditions Self-Assessment Survey.
The AHCP is a collaboration between the ConnectALL Office and Homes and Community Renewal (HCR) to design and install new or upgraded broadband infrastructure for 100,000 affordable housing units across the state at no cost to property owners. The survey responses will allow the ConnectALL Office to confirm a property’s eligibility and match it with an Internet Service Provider (ISP) grantee, who will craft a custom installation plan for the property. Following the completion of infrastructure upgrades, residents will have access to digital equity and device support services via their ISPs, community-based organizations, and property owners.
As NYS continues to access applications for ISPs to compete for the $100 million in grant awards, it anticipates making those awards, matching properties with ISP grantees, and deploying infrastructure upgrades in 2026.
Property owners can learn more by visiting the ConnectALL Office AHCP website and reviewing its “AHCP Forum for Property Owners” webinar recording and presentation materials.
In addition to the AHCP, NYS recently announced that the ConnectALL Office is accepting applications for $644 million in funding to expand broadband to hard-to-reach homes and small businesses with no existing commitment for service under another program. LeadingAge NY is still analyzing if and how members might be able to take advantage of this funding and will keep members apprised as updates become available.
