NYS Resources for Broadband Expansion in Affordable Housing: Learn More in Upcoming Virtual Forum
The NYS ConnectALL Office will host a free virtual forum for owners of affordable housing to learn more about the Affordable Housing Connectivity Program (AHCP) and how they can participate in this historic funding opportunity. The AHCP Forum for Owners of Regulated Affordable Housing Properties will take place on Mon., Nov. 6th from 2-3:30 p.m.
Through the AHCP, the ConnectALL Office will work with owners of affordable housing in need of new or upgraded broadband infrastructure to match those properties with grantees – internet service providers (ISPs) and other broadband deployment entities – who will receive funding to deploy high-speed broadband infrastructure at no cost to the property owner. The State anticipates that up to 100,000 low-income households will ultimately be served by the program.
The first step for building owners interested in receiving no-cost new or upgraded broadband infrastructure at their property, regardless of whether the building already has broadband wiring, is to complete the State’s AHCP owner interest survey. The survey responses will then allow the ConnectALL Office to confirm the property’s eligibility and match it with an ISP grantee, who will craft an installation plan tailored to your building or buildings.
Owners can learn more by registering for the Nov. 6th forum and reviewing the AHCP Building Owner Roles and Responsibilities document available on the ConnectALL Office AHCP website.
