New Housing Bills in Congress

(Feb. 11, 2025) As the 119th session of Congress picks up, bills of interest to LeadingAge have been introduced. These include H.R. 638 from Representative Ritchie Torres (D-NY), which would establish a voluntary pilot program on heat sensors in U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)-assisted units. Another bill, H.R. 206, introduced by Representative Nydia Velázquez (D-NY), would prohibit discrimination based on the use of Section 8 Housing Choice vouchers to help pay housing costs. The Creating Opportunities for New Skills Training at Rural and Underserved Colleges and Trade Schools (CONSTRUCTS) Act, S. 189, introduced by Senators Jacky Rosen (D-NV) and Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), would expand the housing construction workforce. LeadingAge supports these bills.
