FCC to Host Affordable Connectivity Program Wind-Down Webinar on March 13th
On March 4th, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) issued a Public Notice confirming that without additional funding from Congress, the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) will sunset this spring. The ACP is a monthly internet discount program that helps qualifying households maintain affordable internet access, including U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)-assisted older adults.
Currently enrolled program participants are projected to receive their last full month internet discount in April and only a partial discount in May 2024. The FCC will host an ACP wind-down webinar on March 13th at 1 p.m., which will be livestreamed at www.fcc.gov/live and recorded and archived for public viewing at www.fcc.gov/acp. Registration is not required to view the livestream.
The FCC also sent official notices to Congress on the lack of funding for the program and released survey data showing the potential impact of the ACP wind-down on the more than 23 million enrolled households across the country.
