DOH Offering Person-Centered Practice and Cultural Humility Training Sessions
Registration for the latest module in the Department of Health’s (DOH) Person-Centered Planning Virtual Training series, Person-Centered Practice and Cultural Humility, is now open. Please see the below announcement from DOH for more information and registration links.
Person-Centered Practice and Cultural Humility
(continuing education hours are not currently being offered for this topic)
This 2-hour interactive virtual training will define culture and cultural humility and their connection to home and community-based services. The trainers will share person-centered skills that are helpful in exploring culture with a person who is receiving services and supports. After the training, participants will be able to:
- Describe cultural humility and how it applies to home and community-based services and supports
- Identify key aspects of person-centered cultural humility in order to provide services and supports in line with the HCBS Final Rule
- Engage in action learning and raising awareness around people’s values and lived experiences
- Understand the difference between Cultural Humility and Cultural Competence
- Identify available resources for further learning
This training topic is ideal for those who provide, oversee, receive, or support people who receive person-centered supports and services and have a base of knowledge in person-centered thinking, and, want to understand the connections between person-centered practices and cultural humility.
