Registration Status of LHCSAs Now Public
Licensed Home Care Services Agencies (LHCSAs) were required to register with the Department of Health (DOH) by Nov. 16, 2018, as required by the 2018-19 State Budget. This process, which was carried out in conjunction with completion of the LHCSA Statistical Report, began mid-summer and carried through the fall, with DOH providing ample warning and ongoing instructions and reminders regarding the new process. With the task completed, DOH is now posting all registered and unregistered LHCSAs on Health Data NY. You can view the data here.
For those LHCSAs not registered, the following fines and penalties will be imposed:
- A $500 fine will be assessed for each month, or part of a month, that the organization is not registered.
- Agencies that are not registered by the deadline will not be allowed to operate until they become registered.
- LHCSAs not registered by Jan. 1, 2019 will not be able to provide services, bill, or be reimbursed for services.
- Agencies that fail to register timely for two years, not necessarily consecutive, may have their licenses revoked.
Please note that some LHCSAs listed as unregistered may be retiring specific license numbers and operating under others that are active. The registration process will be carried out annually. Please contact LeadingAge NY if you have questions.
