CMS GUIDE Model Participants Notified
LeadingAge National has learned that the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) notified applicants on or around April 3rd whether or not they were accepted for participation in the Guiding an Improved Dementia Experience (GUIDE) Model. As members may recall, the GUIDE Model is a model test that aims to support people living with dementia and their unpaid caregivers.
As a refresher, GUIDE participants will be Medicare Part B-enrolled providers/suppliers who are eligible to bill for Medicare Physician Fee Schedule services and agree to meet the care delivery requirements of the Model. Participating providers who do not meet the GUIDE care delivery requirements alone may contract with other Medicare providers/suppliers to meet the care delivery requirements. These contracted providers/suppliers will be known as “Partner Organizations.”
The GUIDE Model will offer 24/7 access to a support line, as well as caregiver training, education, and support services. This approach is intended to allow people living with dementia to remain safely in their homes for longer periods and improve their quality of life and the lives of their unpaid caregivers. The eight-year Model will offer two tracks: one for established programs and one for new programs. CMS will support Model participation for organizations that do not currently offer comprehensive dementia care or have prior experience with alternative payment models by providing technical assistance, as well as a pre-implementation year to prepare for participation.
LeadingAge NY will be sure to share with members the current list of participating GUIDE Model lead providers so that members may reach out to them if they wish to provide services as a Partner Organization.
If your organization was accepted as a provider in the program, please let us know.
