Change in Form for Deficit Reduction Act (DRA) Certification Only

According to the NYS Office of the Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG), some providers were confused by the DRA certification form and they provided this additional clarification.

"In the certification period section of the DRA form, when prompted to “Please select a certification period,” the only option presented on the DRA form will be “Oct. 1, 2012 to Sept. 30, 2013.”  This is the federal fiscal year most recently concluded and is the option that most New York State Medicaid providers need to certify to at this time.  Please recall that the DRA certification must be completed by the Jan. 1 following the end of the federal fiscal year that the DRA requirements apply to Medicaid providers."

If you are required to certify under the DRA and you have not done so, this change will not affect your ability to meet the DRA certification requirement for the federal fiscal year that ended on Sept. 30, 2013.

If you are required to certify under the DRA and you have already done so, you may wish to review the DRA certification period and confirm that your DRA certification was for the correct federal fiscal year.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact OMIG’s Bureau of Compliance at compliance@omig.ny.gov.
