Deadline Reminder: SADC Programs Must Contract with Transportation Providers Starting Jan. 1, 2025

(Dec. 17, 2024) Social adult day care (SADC) programs are reminded of the July 2024-issued Department of Health (DOH) guidance which requires SADCs to provide for or arrange for provision of transportation of SADC participants to and from program starting Jan. 1, 2025. This policy change was posted in July in preparation for this transition.

SADC programs will be reimbursed for SADC transportation through their contracting Managed Long Term Care (MLTC) plans. However, MLTC plans will no longer be responsible for arranging transportation for SADC programs, nor will programs or plans be able to use Medical Answering Service (MAS), the statewide transportation broker, to provide this service for SADC programs.

SADC programs should reach out to LeadingAge NY if they are receiving inadequate transportation rates from plans to pay for this MLTC benefit. DOH recently communicated that it will look into complaints if this dynamic is occurring.
