Expanding Telehealth Services

Effective Jan. 1st, three new laws will expand telehealth services throughout New York State. The first law, A.7488 (Gottfried)/S.5733 (Young), will amend subdivision two of section 2999-c of the Public Health Law (PHL), by adding physical therapist and occupational therapist to the list of telehealth providers. The second law, A.7369 (Russell)/S.4182-A (Young), will amend section one of section 2999-cc, by including a dentist office as an “originating site” for the delivery of telehealth services. The third law, A.2552-A (Russell)/S.2405 (Young), amends the same section of PHL and provides further clarification to telehealth related definitions, insurance provisions for insurers, and Medicaid for telehealth and telemedicine coverage.
