Status update on downstate CHHA applications

During the Public Health and Health Planning Council (PHHPC) meeting held on Thurs., Aug. 9, the Council approved 16 out of 17 CHHA applications that the Establishment and Project Review Committee had recommended. One application was deferred until the full PHHPC had the opportunity to review the providers’ financial statements and any other relevant financial material. All of the approvals had one contingency and one condition attached to the approval.

  • Approved entities must develop a plan that details how it will achieve compliance with the provision of no less than 2% charity care.
  • Every provider has one year to serve clients in the entire geographical area approved by the PHHPC. If this condition is not met, the application will be withdrawn.

The remaining 83 applications to establish or expand CHHAs in the eight downstate counties DOH had recommended for disapproval were deferred to a future meeting.

Now available online is the PHHPC meeting agenda and a recording of the meeting.

The committee will consider the upstate CHHA applications next and are slated for review by PHHPC in September or October.

For your convenience, LeadingAge New York has created this document that encompasses the 17 CHHA applications that were acted on during the PHHPC meeting on Thurs., Aug. 9.
