Reminder for Home Care and Hospice on Health Screening & Training
The Department of Health (DOH) issued a Dear Administrator Letter (DAL), DHCBS-15-02, to remind home care and hospice providers of the required personnel requirements related to health assessments and training for staff. The requirements are found in:
- (10) NYCRR Section 766.11 for LHCSAs;
- (10) NYCRR Section 763.13 for CHHAs; and
- (10) NYCRR Section 793.5 for Hospices.
As per the DAL, all staff who provide patient care must be licensed or certified and have documentation to support pre-employment and annual health assessment screenings. DOH is suggesting that agencies review the personnel records to ensure compliance with all required screening, training, certification and licensure is on file.
