CHHA billing update

DOH has posted an update on the Episodic Payment System - Billing Update Regarding Assessment Dates dated Aug. 29, 2012. The update is available on the "CHHA Rate Sheets" application on the Health Commerce System (HCS).

This update contains information about programming changes, which will allow assessment dates that are up to 65 days prior to a Medicaid episode start date for Certified Home Health Agency (CHHA) episodic claims. As noted in the Additional Billing Guidelines issued in July on HCS, the range of acceptable assessment dates were expanded to include dates of up to five days after the start of an episode. With this new update, the acceptable range is now from 65 days prior to the start date, to five days after the start date. If there is more than one assessment available in this date range, the most recent assessment should be used.

Questions about the episodic payment system for CHHAs may be submitted to the following email address: bltcr-ch@health.state.ny.us.
