Regulatory Changes to Home Care

Last week, the Public Health and Health Planning Council (PHHPC) Committee on Codes, Regulation and Legislation adopted the recommended regulatory change to home care and the time frame for obtaining written physician orders. This was an issue that was raised during the Home and Community–based Care Workgroup meetings in 2014-15. Several regulatory changes were adopted, Home Care Agencies to Obtain Written Medical Orders from Physicians was just one of many. As we have previously reported, this will align with the regulations under Medicare allowing for one year to bill.

The Department of Health will be posting this in an upcoming issue of the NYS Register and will be issuing a Dear Administrator Letter with additional details. LeadingAge New York will keep members posted.
