OMIG Sending out Third Party Liability (TPL) Repayment Letters

The University of Massachusetts Medical School (UMMS) is under contract with the Office of the Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG) to perform traditional Medicare appeals to ensure providers seek reimbursement from Medicare and all other third party payors before submitting a Medicaid claim. As always, Medicaid is the payor of last resort. UMMS has sent notifications to providers who have episodes of care that were paid by Medicare under the Traditional Medicare Appeals Initiative. LeadingAge New York has the list of providers from UMMS; you may contact us to determine if you are on the list.

As in the previous recovery, OMIG is requesting that your agency reimburse only the amount paid by Medicare. We encourage providers who receive this notice to review their records and contact UMMS Medicare Appeals Team at (866) 626-7594 with any questions. All documentation sent to the UMMS and checks sent to NYS OMIG - Bank of America Lockbox Services must be received within 30 days of the letter.
