Medicare Telehealth Flexibilities Officially Resume, For Now

(Nov. 18, 2025) President Trump signed Congress's continuing resolution (CR) into law on Wed., Nov. 13th, ending the federal government shutdown and allowing Medicare providers to resume visits via telehealth. Specifically, the CR extends Medicare telehealth flexibilities through Jan. 30, 2026. This extension includes the hospice face-to-face certifications via telehealth, as well as waivers of the originating site and geographic restrictions for telehealth services. It also extends provisions allowing the Hospital at Home program to resume.

LeadingAge National will ask the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for guidance on how they plan to implement this retroactivity and ask for specific clarity for the association's range of providers.

LeadingAge NY urges members to urge Congress to make the telehealth flexibilities permanent by completing the action alerts in this Intelligence article.
