Home Health Quality Metrics Now Includes the New CMS Home Health Star Rating Measure
CMS recently released the first round of Quality of Patient Care star ratings on Home Health Compare, CMS's public information website for Home Health Agencies (HHAs). Each HHA will receive a single summary star rating, ranging from 1 star (lowest rating) to 5 stars (highest rating) that encompasses that agency's relative performance on 9 of the 29 quality measures already posted on Home Health Compare. Nationally, 46% of HHAs received either a 3 or 3.5 star rating while 28% received 2.5 stars or lower and 26% received 4 stars or higher. In New York, 54% of HHAs received a 3 or 3.5 star rating while 30% received 2.5 stars or lower and 16% received 4 stars or higher. Click here for more information on the Home Health Star Ratings.
LeadingAge New York, in partnership with LeadingAge national and other LeadingAge state affiliates, developed Home Health Quality Metrics, an interactive web-based data analytic tool to help LeadingAge home health members analyze their quality measures relative to their peers. Users can create custom benchmark groups and make comparisons using various types of analyses. The new Star Rating measure has been added to the 29 existing measures currently available in the data tool,
