FFY 2019 Medicare Home Health Maximization Services Initiative

The Office of the Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG) has sent a letter to selected home health providers to resume the semi-annual demand billing process for the Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2019 Medicare Home Health Maximization Services Initiative. This process is to ensure that providers seek reimbursement from Medicare and all other third parties before submitting a claim to Medicaid (Section 540.6(e)(1) of Title 18 NYCRR).

OMIG has contracted with the University of Massachusetts Medical School (UMass) to perform the Medicare Home Health Appeals Initiative. The second Demand Bill Notification letter for the FFY 2019 Medicare Home Health Maximization Services Initiative was sent for delivery via UPS on May 4, 2020. All providers who had Episodic Payment System (EPS) home health claims selected for this initiative which fall between April 1, 2019 and Sept. 30, 2019 were issued a copy. The letter serves as an additional reminder that all claims identified in the original Demand Bill Notification letter dated March 2, 2020 must be timely billed to Medicare.
