CMS Releases Revised Survey Protocol on Home Health Conditions of Participation
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released revised protocol for surveyors relating to the new Home Health Conditions of Participation that are in effect as of Jan. 13th. The update provides more information on how home health agencies will be surveyed under the new CoPs, which dictate how providers qualify to offer Medicare-certified services. The update comes as home health agencies are still waiting on the finalized interpretive guidelines (IGs) from CMS on the new regulations. The IGs are likely to offer additional explanations for certain requirements. The revised CoP protocols assign new survey G tags to the standards and provide more information about how surveyors will prepare for home health agency surveys. The new tags went into use on Jan. 22nd.
CMS will be hosting a Home Health Review and Correct Reports Webinar on Tues., March 6th from 2 to 3:30 pm EST. Click here to register. Please see the Home Health Quality Reporting Training web page for details.
