OMIG Posts Additional Resources on the Mandatory Compliance Programs

In November, the NYS Office of the Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG) held a series of webinars regarding New York's mandatory compliance program law for Medicaid providers. Members that serve the Medicaid population are encouraged to review all of the resources that OMIG has posted.

In the first Introductory Webinar OMIG outlined the eight elements that are required for mandatory compliance programs; identified who is required to have a compliance program; and identified what areas of a Medicaid provider's operations compliance programs must apply. OMIG stated they would publish Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) raised in reference to the webinar series. Questions submitted to OMIG by Nov. 25, 2015 would be included in the December FAQ.

Medicaid providers are encouraged to review the two FAQs that were posted on Dec.1st. The first Frequently Asked Questions ("FAQs") primarily addresses New York State's Social Services Law ("SSL") §363-d and the accompanying regulations at 18 NYCRR Part 521. The second FAQ document addresses the federal Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 (DRA) and its annual certification requirement.
