LeadingAge NY Advocates for Faster Processing of Veterans' Benefits
The New York State Assembly held a hearing on Nov. 17, 2015 to review the budget and programs for veterans and and evaluate the State’s role in connecting veterans with the benefits they have earned. LeadingAge New York submitted testimony regarding the delays that veterans have experienced in applying for Aid and Attendance; a benefit that supports low income seniors that require the assistance of another person for their daily functioning. This benefit can support senior veterans that reside in the community, or in assisted living facilities. LeadingAge NY has been advocating for a timelier processing of these applications to ensure veterans have the benefits they need, when they need them.
