Webinar on Community Consultations in Refugee Resettlement. Marking the release of a new report on the importance of community consultation as part of refugee resettlement, the Migration Policy Institute (MPI) invites interested individuals to attend a free webinar on Thurs., Nov. 30th at 10 a.m.
DOL Announces $98 Million to Support Pre-Apprenticeships Programs. The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) has announced the availability of $98 million in funding to support the delivery of pre-apprenticeships in high-demand industries including construction, health care, information technology and hospitality. Funded through the Department's YouthBuild Program, the grants will help provide educational guidance, occupational skills training, and employment services to disadvantaged young people, ages 16 to 24, in communities where barriers to academic and career skills development persist. Administered by the Department's Employment and Training Administration and supported by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, the YouthBuild Program will fund individual grants for about 75 projects ranging from $700,000 to $1.5 million. DOL, DHS Rule Temporarily Increases H-2B Nonimmigrant Visas for FY 2024. On Nov. 17th, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and DOL jointly published a temporary final rule increasing the numerical limit (or cap) on H-2B nonimmigrant visas by up to 64,716 additional visas for all of Fiscal Year (FY) 2024.
