What Does E-Prescribing Mean for You?
Have you heard the buzz about electronic prescribing? A new State mandate, frequently called “I-STOP” (Internet System for Tracking Over-Prescribing), has already implemented a slew of changes for prescribing, but more change is coming. According to the mandate, all prescriptions must be submitted electronically by Fri., March 27, 2015. Click here for more information regarding the requirement.
While the mandate is on physicians and other prescribers, LeadingAge NY wants to ensure that you understand what this will mean for you and the people you serve. On Tues., Feb. 17, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., we will provide an audio program that will review the basic principles of electronic prescribing, as well as the workflow challenges anticipated. This program is appropriate for all members that are engaged in administering medications, accessing medications or helping consumers adhere to a medication regime. Click here to register. If you are unable to participate at that time, you may access the on-demand recording to listen at any time, available 24 hours after the live session.
Given the workflow challenges we anticipate for our members, LeadingAge NY is also advocating for a delay in the implementation of this requirement. Legislation has been introduced, requesting a year delay to give physicians, providers and software vendors more time to ensure everything is in place for the transition.
